The Plan
PIFFEE - with the help of the Oakland County Sheriff's department, we have
the family of a firefighter that lost his life when the engine in which he
was riding was struck by an SUV. He's left a wife and two young daughters.
His youngest daughter is just about 5 years old.
Our program: Folks arriving on Thursday will be invited to take a short ride
if they are up to it. Later that evening, all are invited to Don F. home for
a cookout (please let him know if interested)
Most folks will probably arrive on Friday - we will have a grill set up at
the hotel for hot dogs and burgers.
Saturday morning: We are off to an early start. Folks from Michigan will
lead the ride around the Michigan thumb. There are approximately nine (9)
police stations on our route. We are planning to stop at each of these
stations.
When we stop, we are asking the officer in charge to provide a flag to one
of the riders. That rider will in turn present that flag (and letter if one
is given) to the family - on behalf of our "grateful nation".
In addition, we know that folks are coming from other states. We will ask
that the folks from those states get together - pick a lead - and bring a
flag from your state - to be presented to the family.
PIFFEE activity - chances are this will take place at the local police
department or firehouse - team is still working on the details.
Greg has agreed to update our site for the 2011 PIF information. Please

posted here.
