MY DEAREST FAMILY OF FRIENDS:
I have been reading all morning the new threads that have been posted since "The Eagle Has Landed"
Even though I knew what was going on (or at least most of what was going on) I was still surprised with the beautiful plaque, roses, and the true out-pour of love and giving that I exhibited yesterday. It was good to see a few old friends, Keith and Martha Kennedy, Roger Hurley, Betty Cottingim, Glen and Betty Butler, our Pastor and his family, but the people we didn't know, and I'm talking 100+ are ALL like family to us. It's nice to know that when the chips are down you find out who your true friends are, even when they come in the form of strangers. Afterall, that is what GWRRA is about...Friendship! I know Bill and I can go anywhere in the USA and have a friend to visit. If you could have seen the look on his face, it truly was priceless. Thank you so much for giving me back my happy-go-lucky husband. Without ALL of You, your kindness, generousity, hospitality, and friendship has shown us what the meaning of being a true Goldwing member is all about.
Thank you National for sending us Bob Kekeis, GWRRA National Director, Special Interest Groups and Communications to be part of this momentous ocassion. I understand Mike Wright wanted to be here also but had a previous committment. We will meet someday Mike I'm sure.
Greg (Hines) Hayden and Darlene, what can I say other than you are fabulous friends and I'm so happy that we live so close as I'm sure we'll get tho ride together or just hang out.
Joe from Jaw Ja and your group, you all are sweet as honey. Thank you so much... you are special.
Robin and your lovely better half...your are precious.
Bob Pratt and Linda Waterman, Thank you so much for the work you are doing with the pictures and the CD's of all this that has taken place.
I hope I'm getting all the names right and who has done what. Shelia, Thank you for the Chuck Wagon, it was really kind of you to bring it and it really saved the wear and tear on my sister's kitchen.
Jack and Jolene, I'll cherish the plaques you made me, it must have taken hours. They will definetly hang in a special place.
I'm going to get Bill on here later and get him started on how to use the computer so he can personnaly thank you. The happiness he felt seeing that beautiful bike out weighed the friends he thought he would see there. Thank you again so much from all my heart.

God Bless!
Love and Prayers,
Linda

You two are a special couple. Linda I don't know how you didn't burst by keeping this inside for so long, but I am glad you did, the expression on Bill's face was priceless. I hope you are feeling better after the fall Friday night. You take care of yourself and Bill.

You are very welcome. I wish I could have been there to join in the fesitivities. It was great to see the pictures of the event and I hope to lay my hands on the video. I hope that you two have many happy miles on your wing. Thank you so much Greg for all of your hard work on this project. It's a memory I will remember for a lifetime. This shows the true nature of the fine people of this organization. Which, I must say is not faceless any longer. This couldn't have been bestowed upon a more deserving couple. You two are great.

Linda and Bill - thanks. Might I suggest that you not show Bill how to use the computer. I suspect all of us might be right back on your door step next year - and I just liked the way he looked in surprise - priceless.

I am posting this email I got from Jess Tolbirt. Jess is no longer able to post but I thought you all might enjoy his prospective on yesterday.

Jess Tolbirt wrote:

Man let me tell ya,,
Bill was holding the key to the bike when Linda gave it to him and he
said is this mine? just for today? and Linda told him Yes its yours
but forever and no payments either,,,Bill got kinda sick looking and
In the pic you see of Linda hugging him his knees just went limp for a
sec,,,then we helped him down the steps of the deck because he was
sorta still weak in the knees and he was bawling a river,,course we
were too,,,then he bent over and hugged the bike and got on his knees
and kissed the right saddle bag,,,THEN,,, here is where i lost it,,,
he stood up and walked around the back of the bike and saw his name
and lindas name on the trunk and he fell on the trunk like he was
hugging it and he cried so hard i had to walk away for a sec or
two,,,he couldnt move for at least 5 minutes,,,I think today i saw the
end result of a gift i gave and would give it again tomorrow to see
the same type ending..
If you give to the ride for kids you know the money goes for a great
cause but today i actually saw it happen,

My only regret is that the weather wasn't better and we could have made a whole weekend out of it. What a feeling and what a wonderful job everyone did. Bill & linda, enjoy the heck out of that bike, it's a beautiful bike for a beautiful couple. I'm so happy that I could be a small part of it.

I got home about 3:30 today after three days on the road and I have to tell you all, the look on Bill and Linda's face and their excitement and heart felt joy will be with me for a long time. I am on my way to pick up the pictures that I had developed and can't wait to see them. Thank you all for very memorable event.
Bill and Linda, may the Gold Wing bring you both happiness for years to come.

Danny - good riding back with you for part of the way. Wish we had a longer ride together - actually, it was getting pretty nice outside on the way back.

Did you run into any weather.

Linda, Thank you. This whole thing started out to help you & Bill, but I also found several new friends and family, plus I got re-confirmation that there are still a lot of good people left in this world. So by getting involved in giving, it seems that I also received. And, I bet I'm not the only one.

I hope that your joy of riding BR2 is as great as ours is from being a part of such a group.

I was SOOOOO honored to be a part of all this. And just think, If Jess Tolbirt hadn't offered to come to Jaw-Ja and install the stator in a 1200.... I'd have sold that bike and never had the privelidge of meeting all you FANTASTIC folks in person.

I cant say enough nice things about all the folks Bonnie and I met this weekend. I wouldnt trade those 2 days for all the world! I doubt I'll ever get to top being able to play Santa on Saturday. I cant imagine anything else being any better than THAT!

Thank you to everyone who took part in this wonderful expression of love. Without ALL OF YOU, we couldnt have made this happen.

Linda, your very welcome. I was honored to help out and do the small part that I did.
But really I thank you, and all of you. As Joe said he can't imagine anything being better. I don't think that anything will touch me as emotionally as this has.

Some of us said in the beginning, "warm fuzzes", I don't know if that can truly describe what I think most of us did feel. I think my feeling were way beyond that.

I echo the comments about the greatness of this event and putting faces with names on electronic blips.

This is the third internet group that I've had the privilege to meet the people behind the email. The others were very good; this one was GREAT!

Linda, Thank you for the kind words. We had a wonderful time getting to know you, Bill, your sister Judi and her husband Dave. Judi and Dave are great people and do a wonderful job at hosting a party. You are blessed with a loving family. We are glad that our "Chuckwagon" was able to help make your "BIG" day a little better. My wife, Bonita, had a fun time serving all the good food you made, Chili, Potato salad and Baked beans. Everyone brought so much good food that no one left hungry and the extra went a long way to help your church's Thanksgiving Baskets. We had a wonderful time, made lots of new friend and hope to see you at an X-2 meeting, on Big Red 2 soon. Your "cousins" Steve and Bonita Woodin

Linda & Bill,

Sorry I couldn't be there for the presentation. Since I'm within striking distance, I may venture down your way and drop in or take ya out for coffee. If you're ever heading to Ft Wayne, IN, I'm happy to put you up. Looking forward to actually meeting you.

Can't imagine how many tears I would have shed had I been there. I've been having happy tears for the last couple days reading all the threads.

Happy to been a part of making a dream come true.

ya Don, it was good riding back with you for part of the way. If I know you were leaving the same time as I, I would have waited.
Saturdays weather was about the same all the way to Somerset PA where I got a room and settled down by 6:30 that evening. Sunday's weather was windy and cloudy, fast moving clouds at that but no rain. Was home Sunday by 3:30.

Linda, sorry to hear of your fall before the event. How did you ever climb on back of the bike.
Wish you the best.

The various Pics of the event were wonderful to see. Not being able to attend in person, these were the next best thing. Best of luck with Big Red 2 and all else in your lives.
