Ok you
guys:
I admit that I haven't been a Goldwing owner for a long time. I
haven't been a road bike rider for a while. I haven't even written to Mom as
much as my sister but man how can you not get behind this?
I just
attended a long term local event that is legendary in my area. We ride around
taking pics or our bike in front of state wide tourista stuff! It is very
cool and much money is raised and donated.
I sent e-mail in advance of
this event to generate interest in the Bill Hines effort. It was very
dissapointing to me that not one of the e-mails that I sent was acknoweledged.
I guess you never know how to read other peoples priorties!
I
tested the 'comes around, goes around' theory but it didn't help me win the
50/50.
Sorry Bill, I'll keep trying! UM |

I'm with
you Robert. There is no way I could not have made a donation after reading
Linda's post. I pray that I would never have to part with my Wing for health
reasons (my own or my wife's or another family member). I also thank the Lord
that he has provided me the opportunity to help out just a little. Our meeting
is today and I plan on doing the same thing, to bring it up there and hope it
affects our members the way it has affected me. We have a very small Chapter,
Six couples, but if it touches them the way it has touched me, this should raise
another $50 or so.

That is
great, the way you all are getting out there and trying. We are doing the same
here in Ohio. I want to share with you all, parts of an e-mail I got from
Joe Durning. (joe in ga)
"Tonight was our Jaw-ja Chapter P meeting
night. We had well over 100 show up. I asked the CD for 5 minutes to speak. I
started out by pointing out that our chapter has been steadily growing in the
past few months. There's a lot of new faces. And I'm sure some of you are still
new enough to GWRRA that you're still trying to figure out just what GWRRA is
all about. So let me share a little something with you all. Then I read Linda's
original "wanted" ad which I had brought a copy of. (It was difficult to read it
out loud, 'cause that big ol lump in my throat kept choking me up. And I didn't
dare try to look around the room as I spoke, cause I knew that if I caught sight
of someone else who's eyes were wet, that I'd just lose it altogether. ) Then I
held up the print-out of just the original thread and showed everybody how it
took 25 pages to print it all out. I told them I wouldn't try to read it all,
but I did read just a few of the posts so they'd get the idea of what we are
trying to do. By the time I got done talking, I'm not too sure there was a dry
eye in the house (mine included). I ended by saying that for the benefit of the
"new folks" ... If you're wondering just what GWRRA is all about, THIS is what
GWRRA is all about! Wingers helping Wingers. After the meeting, several folks
asked me how to get to the GWRRA web-page. Several more asked me for your
address, and several more simply handed me cash and asked me to be sure it
was sent where it would do some good. When I got home I counted $185 dollars,
which I'll be forwarding to you first of the week." Thanks a bunch Joe.

My Dear Gold Wing
Family and Friends: I've got the Kleenex sitting by the computer again. I am
so touched from the out-pour of love and compassion, I just never felt this way
before. I've helped others out before and it did make me feel warm and fuzzy (as
someone on the board said), but to be on the receiving end is a different
feeling altogether. The look on Bill's face will be one I'll never forget as
long as I live, because it will be priceless!!! Yesterday, Bill wanted to go
up to Van Wert Honda to look around after Betty Cottingim suggested it. They
didn't have much in stock since it is late in the year and he is trying to
reduce stock before December. The few Wings he did have Bill drooled over for
about two and a half hours. He kept going from one to another (there was only 6
wings on the floor). He'd sit on one, then the other. Now, that's how much he
LOVES WINGS!!! It broke my heart that I couldn't buy him one even though I know
you TERRIFIC FRIENDS have said you have found him one. Even though it is getting
cold, that has never stopped Bill from riding. Before I got sick and finances
were better, be bought heated suits a few years ago. That winter we had one heck
of a snow, so bad in fact we couldn't get out of our driveway for a few days.
Finally, the roads were cleared, Bill walked to the end of the driveway and
didn't see a lot of salt on the road, so we both broke a path through the ice in
the driveway (took about 2 hrs.) so he could take a ride. He came back smiling
and was telling me how neat it was to drive down the road with about 5 foot snow
banks piled on both sides of the road. Sorry, I didn't mean to ramble on
about his little adventures. What I intended to say in this message was to the
new member Robert Mitchell and all the other new members; and that is, I don't
feel any ill will to those not wanting to participate in getting Bill a bike.
I'm sure their hearts are in the right place and I pray for their safety and
health right along with everyone else. I placed an ad looking for a wing for
Bill and God sent me a host of angels, lead by Joe and Greg, to get a bike for
him. Please don't anyone hold a grudge against anyone who isn't wanting anything
to do with this. Pray for them as I do. My Love and Prayers to all my new
family and friends, Sincerely, Linda Hines}

Joe,
I basically don the same thing this morning,at my meeting, and I only could
read Linda's original want ad and a short paraphrase of the Badgemaker's note
that we all read here and i couldn't finish it for the lump in my throat, and
when I say I couldn't talk you would have to know my history to know what that
means, and I definatly got some contributions in the 3gallon plastic jug that I
have metal screws holding the lid on until it is full, kind of hard to discribe
the feeling you get!

I
mentioned it also at our Washington State leadership session in Moses Lake on
Saturday.
We also had a situation with a member's daughter who is
critically ill in a hospital in Portland and the hat passing went for that
cause.
But I'll still keep mentioning the Hines Wing. Will anyone else
be going to the BILOXI rally this coming weekend and be able to mention it
there?
